This artist identifies herself as an art director, painter, illustrator, occasional animator, vegan, and animal lover, and her work reflects that.
Yaoyao Ma Van As, a Los Angeles-based animator, has collaborated with a number of companies, including Disney TV Animation, Warner Brothers Animation, Rick and Morty, Stoopid Buddy Studios, and Starburns Industries, but today we’ll concentrate on her personal art project, a collection of heartwarming drawings about a girl and her puppy.
“My artistic ideas come from a number of sources, but my key source of inspiration is my pet dog Parker,” the artist told Bored Panda. “Since we adopted him almost four years ago, he’s been the core of our universe.”
Since she was a child, Yaoyao Ma Van As has been interested in art. “I’ve been drawing since I can recall, but only rarely and never seriously. I began making these drawings about a year and a half ago as a way to reintroduce myself to drawing.
“I use Photoshop, usually start with a rough sketch, and then work in the local colours, adding lighting as I go,” the artist explained when asked how she creates her cool drawings. A piece takes her about 2-4 hours to complete. “I’m still trying to push myself to try new stuff, but trial and error takes longer sometimes.”
