When it comes to comic books, many people like the medium and all the strange, comic-related things that artists can achieve with it. Most people enjoy how panels may be used and ordered to create a variety of moods, reading speeds, and send differing amounts of information to the reader, not to mention how the space between the panels can reveal a variety of information about the tale to the reader. However, when it comes to this particular genre of art, this is simply the top of the iceberg.
With that in mind, we’d like to introduce Pedro Arizpe, the author of “Port Sherry,” a webcomic. Pedro has a distinct style when it comes to storytelling, as evidenced by his comics. The artist, who has over 93.8k Instagram followers, has been creating cartoons since 2010.

First, we inquired about the artist’s life-changing influences, which may have aided him in developing his art and art style in general for his comics.
“Classic newspaper cartoonists are my major influences. While I’m nowhere near their abilities, I attempt to emulate Walt Kelly’s luscious linework (Pogo), Ernie Bushmiller’s eye for clear visual jokes (Nancy), Floyd Gottfresdon’s dynamic sense of movement (Mickey Mouse), and Bill Watterson’s work ethic (Calvin and Hobbes).”

Because art, in any form, takes a long time to practice as well as produce, we asked Pedro how long it takes him to complete each of his comics.
“I’d guess 3 days on average. Because I don’t have a set length for my comics, a four-panel black-and-white comic may be completed the same afternoon I had the idea. Longer comics can take up to a week to complete, and even longer if they incorporate color. And that’s only after they’ve been written. Some thoughts have been brewing in my head for a long time.”
