When her fiancé demanded that she pay the restaurant bill, the woman left the establishment.

On Reddit, a woman had shared her story. She said that because she was earning more money than her fiancé, he was making fun of her and wanted her to cover his and his friends’ restaurant expenses.

Her fiance began to discuss it when she claimed to have received a 30% increase in her wages. “My fiance (M37) and I (F33) have been engaged for five months. Since he wants to share finances, we don’t. I received a pay increase. He has been utilizing the fact that I now make 30% more than he does to ask me to cover his and his friends’ expenses. Every time I ask, “Why should I pay for this?” or “no,”

She had said before leaving that she would not pay this time because he had deceived her multiple times to cover the cost of the meals. He has often deceived me by asking me in public to pay for his and his friend’s lunches. I just smile and pay because I’m too polite to say “no” and I detest conflict, especially in public settings like restaurants. He invited me to supper with him and his friends last Tuesday. I informed him right away that I wouldn’t be covering their meal costs and that he shouldn’t count on me to do so. “I got this,” he said, adding, “no worries.”

Her fiancé then whispered to her during their meal that she would have to pay again, but she refused. “We arrived at the eatery. He ordered supper and met his companions. “I will be paying for everything he and his friends ordered,” he said, leaning in throughout the meal. I became so enraged that I muttered back “noooo,” but he most likely trusted me to be quiet around his buddies and in public. “You have enough money to cover everyone’s food, remember? 30%,” he remarked.

She got mad, and went back home after paying her own bill. Inside, I was furious. rather than having a negative reaction and becoming angry. When the bills came, I waited.

She explained the circumstances when her fiancé texted and called to ask where she was. “My fiancé started calling and texting me to ask where I was. I replied via text that I didn’t like how he had put me in this predicament and essentially conned me into buying lunch for him and his friends. I stopped responding after telling him I had gone home.

“An hour later he came and started yelling at me calling me selfish, irrational, cheapskate, and childish for sneaking out like that and leaving him stuck with a bill he could not pay (He had to call his brother for help),” she said after they had a disagreement about the matter.

After a furious dispute, he left. Although his buddies didn’t talk to me about it, he told me they were disappointed in my actions and advised him to “think” about the kind of lady he would like to marry.
