Aviral social media post has highlighted an inspiring act of kindness after a group of strangers at the Boomtown Fair in Hampshire helped a 23-year-old autistic man fulfill his life’s ambitions during his first solo music festival.
Adam James from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, attended the five-day event independently, prompting deep safety concerns from his father, Andy. Initially, the family feared Adam would become overwhelmed and even prepared an emergency evacuation plan.
However, those anxieties vanished within the first ten minutes when Adam met a group of festival-goers from Bristol. After striking up a casual conversation about setting up tents, the group invited him to camp alongside them. Adam, an aspiring drum and bass DJ also known as Adzo, noted that the group’s inclusive gesture completely changed his experience, transforming his initial nervousness into lasting confidence.
After receiving a message from his son stating, “Dad, I think I’ve found my people,” Andy shared a public thank-you post addressed to the “lads from Bristol.” The heartfelt message quickly went viral, accumulating thousands of likes and shares, with Andy noting he wanted the young men’s parents to know what remarkable kindness their children had shown.
The widespread attention has created unexpected career momentum for Adam, leading to multiple bookings for DJ gigs. Recently, Adam was reunited with his new friends at the Trident Pub in Bristol, where group member Ciaran remarked that Adam had fit in so seamlessly it felt as though he had traveled to the festival with them from the start.
