Everyone in society is under pressure to be someone, do something, and anything else. However, this does not imply that those expectations are reasonable or that the pressure is warranted. Who knows, maybe we’re pushed to pursue goals that don’t truly reflect our actual selves, or worse, we lose our true selves in the process.
If that’s the case, we may need to take the opposite approach. It’s critical to keep deprogramming ourselves from things that aren’t true and, in some circumstances, dangerous. As a result, we must seek out ways to heal ourselves from the effects of contemporary life.

That’s why it’s wonderful to have artists like Lainey Molnar who assist others in doing just that. She’s on a mission to point out all of the things that are wrong and right about being a woman in this day and age, and she does so in a really accurate and aesthetic way. She explores gender, double standards, societal pressures, expectations, and a variety of other issues that modern independent women face on a daily basis in her comics.
Many people appreciate her efforts to raise awareness about the aforementioned challenges. She’s quite popular, both among her Instagram followers and among you, our loyal Bored Panda readers. Her Instagram account has 896k followers, and the two posts (which can be found here and here) were seen by millions of people on our page. Lainey is a significant voice.
What I like about these images is that they don’t limit themselves to criticism and negativity. While criticizing is a vital and challenging responsibility in and of itself, she also encourages body positivity and mental health. She gently tells us not to conform to social ideals that do not suit our natural needs, and that we are all attractive and normal in our own unique ways. There is no such thing as an inappropriate size, height, or habit. Everything is your fault, and you must acknowledge this first and foremost. And if the others can’t accept it, we’ll just have to live with it.
