What do significant others and cats have in common? Sarah Graley may reply that they provide her with endless material for her comics. There are likely to be even more parallels… In any case, they’re relatable on both sides, to those who appreciate the little pleasures of meaningful relationships as well as those who just enjoy cats.
Sarah and Stef have been together for about ten years and are currently engaged. What else could you possibly require? Perhaps cats? They have cats, too, a wonderful four of them: Pesto and Toby, sisters who arrived in a litter in 2013, and Pixel and Wilson, Pesto’s little babies from a litter of four cats, two of whom were taken by Sarah’s relatives.

We had an exclusive interview with the artist about the past, present, and future. In her own terms, here’s a bit about her background: “I’ve always loved drawing and sharing stories, and comics are the ideal mix of the two!” I went to university in the United Kingdom to study illustration, but my curriculum was not especially impressive. It did offer me the opportunity to focus on comics in addition to my studies. However, one of the things that came out of that time was Our Super Adventure! I created a fictional comic called Pizza Witch and posted it online shortly after that, which led to an editor from Oni Press contacting me and asking if I’d like to try my hand at creating a Rick and Morty comic!”

Sarah has also updated us on how the lockdown/pandemic has impacted them and how they are doing. “It’s been a strange year!” We count ourselves blessed to have each other because we haven’t left the house in a long time! We miss seeing our families—on both sides, there are nephews and nieces we haven’t seen in years! We still skip comic cons a great deal.We typically go to about ten a year, and we love meeting comic book fans! We’ll be excited to see them return once everybody has been vaccinated and things have become better. We did start streaming a lot during lockdown, and it’s been a great way to interact with people who enjoy our comics and want to see us play video games or draw funny things.”

Sarah and Stef have been really busy in recent months, and she has been kind enough to tell us what they’ve been up to. ” For IDW, we’ve been working on a Spider-Man comic series!Around the end of March, the first issue will be available in comic shops! The storey was written by Stef and me, and it was illustrated by Phil Murphy, an awesome artist! We’re still producing weekly Our Super Adventure comics, as well as publishing, drawing, and lettering secret ventures! ” So keep an eye out now that it’s March. I’m excited to see what this amazing pair has come up with.
