People thought their wedding photos were AI-generated – they are very real and their love story is even more real.
Anita Wing Lee and Tim Muttoo got married on June 21 at St. Andrew’s Church in Canada, surrounded by the people they love. They posted photos from the wedding on Instagram. Within days, those photos had been viewed over 140 million times.
People in the comments kept writing the same thing: “Are these AI-generated?”
They are not.
Anita is 5’4″. Tim is four feet tall. Their wedding photos show a couple deeply in love, standing at heights that the internet apparently struggled to accept as real. The couple now routinely reassure strangers online that they are, in fact, actual human beings who actually got married.
Their story began in 2021 when they met through mutual friends in Toronto. Despite having plenty in common, the romantic connection was not instant. Tim developed feelings first. Anita kept him firmly in the friend zone.
“I didn’t see him that way,” she said. His height was something she could not initially look past. “How does a ‘regular’ 5’4″ woman fall in love with a four-foot-tall man?”
The answer came gradually. As their friendship deepened, Anita began to notice things that had nothing to do with height. Tim was kind. Thoughtful. He had no red flags, which she noted is rarer than it sounds. He was an engineer and the co-founder of a charity providing clean drinking water to communities in need. He had vision and character and the kind of quiet consistency that makes a person feel safe.
She started to reflect on what she had actually been looking for in a partner. “I never prayed for someone tall,” she wrote on Instagram. “I prayed for someone with vision, character, and kindness. I realized I had all of that in Tim.”
But before she got there, she almost walked away. With the help of her sister, she drafted a message telling Tim they should stay friends. She sent it. Then immediately felt wrong about it.
“I felt uneasy. I didn’t want to lose him,” she said.
She had given herself away. The feelings she had been rationalizing away were real, and the moment she tried to close the door on them, she understood what was on the other side.
They got engaged in September 2024. Tim proposed. They both cried. Anita said yes.
In their wedding post, Anita wrote a message that spread alongside the photos. “If you’re still waiting for your special person, take heart. Keep the faith. I never prayed for someone tall. You know how people write out lists of what they’re hoping for in a partner? I never actually wrote down tall, because there were other things that mattered more.”
The comments filled with people saying thank you. Not for the photos, but for the reminder. Millions of people watched a couple stand at their altar and saw something they had stopped believing was still possible for them.
“We are glad to see people are realizing that love isn’t just about looks or money,” Tim told People magazine. “It can be about seeing, choosing and knowing someone else’s heart.”
The two had lived 20 minutes apart in Toronto for roughly 15 years before they ever met. They had been unknowingly circling the same city for over a decade before a mutual friend finally put them in the same room.
The photos people keep insisting must be generated by a computer are just photographs of two people who found each other and chose each other and stood in front of everyone they love and made it official. The only thing unusual about them is that they went looking for what actually matters and found it.
“Thank you for helping us believe again in true love,” one comment read. It had thousands of likes. It was one of millions that said the same thing.
