A tiny bright spot as the world fights the coronavirus pandemic is that more individuals are adopting and fostering animals from animal shelters. Additionally, citizens of one Florida city are taking particular action.

According to Fox 5, a record number of adoptions have resulted in every canine in a West Palm Beach animal shelter finding a new home.In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Friends of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control shelter declared “the amazing milestone.”
There are a total of three kennels at the shelter. Strays and overflows from the adoption kennel are typically housed in the fully emptied kennel. All of the animals in the kennel have never been adopted before.
A few dogs, numerous cats, two horses, and a pig named Charlotte are still up for adoption at the main kennel, according to Friends of Palm Beach County Animal Care personnel.
“Thank you to the shelter staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to care for, find homes for, and advocate for the pets who come through these doors; thank you to our incredible foster parents who open their heart and homes to thousands of pets each year; thank you to everyone who has opted to adopt a shelter pet – whether it be here or from any of the other amazing organizations out there,” the social media post read.
New York City was one of the first locations to see a surge in animal adoptions, along with Los Angeles.
During national crises, there is typically a surge in abandoned animals. To combat this, The Humane Society established a fund to support shelters that may see overcrowding as a result of abandonment
