On September 19, 2026, Jimmy Donaldson, known to the world as MrBeast, unveiled his largest humanitarian project to date. He spent nearly ten million dollars to build an entire self-sustaining village in Ghana. The name of the community is Abna Dakwa Village. The purpose is simple but enormous. To give children an alternative to working on illegal cocoa farms.
The project took about a year of planning followed by eight months of construction. It was built on previously undeveloped land. The village includes a school capable of educating more than three hundred children, ten free homes for teachers, a medical clinic, a community marketplace, and two large water towers that provide clean drinking water. There is also an off-grid solar power system, agricultural facilities, and fish tanks designed to help the community become self-sufficient.
To encourage children to stay in school instead of returning to the fields, every student will receive free daily meals for the next five years. The Rockefeller Foundation supported this part of the program.
The project is connected to MrBeast’s chocolate brand, Feastables. The brand has promoted ethically sourced cocoa, and the video serves as a direct challenge to the major chocolate companies. MrBeast said in the video, “Big chocolate will not care about rampant child labor until you guys watching this video do something about it. Show big chocolate that you care, that you do not want little children exploited.”
The International Labour Organization and UNICEF have documented the widespread use of children in hazardous agricultural work across cocoa-producing regions of West Africa. According to reports, 1.56 million children are engaged in child labor across cocoa-growing regions of Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
The village was developed in partnership with the 1 Billion Followers Summit, the Varkey Foundation, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives under the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign. Ten other content creators from around the world traveled to Ghana to help build the village alongside MrBeast.
This is not MrBeast’s first major project in Ghana. Earlier in 2026, he invested over one million dollars to rebuild schools, provide clean water, and construct housing for teachers. He was honored with an honorary title of Development Chief in the community for those efforts.
