A 36-year-old man was arrested in West London last night
David Schwimmer’s response to Blackpool police appeal lookalike
Blackpool police have arrested a suspected thief following an appeal that went viral because the suspect had an uncanny likeness to Ross from Friends.
A 36-year-old man was arrested in Southall, West London, on Monday night by Met Police officers, on suspicion of theft from a Blackpool restaurant on September 20.
Blackpool Police tweeted said: “Thank you for the support, especially @DavidSchwimmer!”
Officers released a picture of a man they wanted to speak to after the alleged theft.
But the image, which showed him holding a crate of beer and staring straight at the camera, soon went viral after people spotted his likeness to David Schwimmer, who played Ross in the hit 90s sitcom.

Schwimmer later pleaded his innocence in an hilarious spoof video on Twitter.
It showed the star leaving a New York convenience store also holding a case of beer and giving a similar glance to the camera.

“We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We’re so sorry it has to be this way.”
